| It turns out that the Games Day had the most theory. Also it was stated during the Careers Day that people who work on games have actual jobs even if the companies tend to go bust. In Animation most people are on short term contracts probably, after you make the tea or work for nothing while people get to know you. So Games are gaining some cred of a sort.
Ludotopia discussed how games are "re-presented in other media such as film" and recognised "the mass appeal of gaming". Arranged by David Surman, the session featured Emma Westecott on Games as an Emerging Artform, James Newman on the evolution of games culture , and Chris Bateman on the business aspects. There is a sound tape of the first two speakers till the space ran out. Mostly very poor quality but this six minutes from James Newman includes some sound samples. Right at the end there is a plug for Google Video. This may not be the exact one shown but you need the video below to go with the mp3. Next year you should be there to get the whole effect. |
